The following are a few questions you may have. For learning how the tournament is run please refer to the RULES tab.
- HOW DO THE A.P.’s WORK?
- Your team is allowed to have 2 alternate players assigned to your registration. These players are to be of age of the division they are entered in. (They do not need to be younger). They are not allowed to be registered to any other team in the Harold Grant Tournament- whether they be a regular player or A.P.
- WHEN CAN I USE AN A.P.?
- You are allowed to utilize your A.P. when one of your teammates on your roster is not able to play that game. If a player from your regular roster gets injured mid-game, your A.P. cannot fill in until the following game.
- WHAT HAPPENS IF MY ROSTER CHANGES LAST MINUTE?
- Notify the tournament organizers through Facebook messaging or email and re-register your new roster on the website. Be sure to note at the bottom of the registration form that it is your updated roster and make sure your new players waiver is signed and submitted.
- CAN I ADD AN A.P. ONCE THE TOURNAMENT HAS STARTED?
- No. You must have a complete roster submitted prior to the start of the tournament. Prepare yourself and make sure you utilize the opportunity to have 2 A.P.’s when submitting your registration.
- A PLAYER ON MY TEAM HAS DIETARY RESTRICTIONS, DO YOU OFFER ALTERNATIVES TO THE MEAL SUPPLIED TO THE TEAM?
- Unfortunately, the tournament only has access to what the Cantina is offering. If you have dietary restrictions, please be prepared to supply your own food.
- WHO RECEIVES THE TEAM MEAL?
- Depending on the meal/snack provided by the tournament, the intent is to supply the regular players on the roster with a “bonus” meal for playing so hard! This does not include the Coaches or AP’s.
- DOES THE ADULT DIVISION HAVE DIFFERENT POOLS TO SEPARATE THE YOUNGER ADULT TEAMS FROM THE MORE SENIOR TEAMS?
- At this point in time, all teams in the adult division will have the opportunity to play each other. Keep this in mind when building your teams. An “experienced” team may play a team full of 19 year olds.
- I REALLY WANT TO ENTER MY TEAM, BUT MY DIVISION IS FULL
- No problem, we will put you on the “wait list”. Your Captain will receive an email if you are placed on the wait list.
- HOW DOES THE WAIT LIST WORK?
- You will know if there is a wait list for a division when it is posted on the Harold Grant Facebook site. You can still fill out a registration form on the Website, but do not submit payment yet. If one of the organizers reaches out to notify a spot has opened, at that point you can send the e-transfer and waivers.
- HOW DOES REGISTRATION WORK ON THE DAY OF THE TOURNAMENT?
- At your teams first game of the tournament, every player needs to sign in at the Registration table in the lobby. For all following games, just Captains need to sign in at Registration and notify if there are any team changes where an A.P. will be playing.
- MY TEAM FOLDED LAST MINUTE, CAN I GET A REFUND?
- Depending on the time your team has folded, you will not receive a refund. If the organizers are able to fill your teams’ spot with someone on the wait list- you may receive a partial or full refund. There is a lot that goes into organizing and running a tournament including but not limited to paying for: ice, Referees, Time-Schedulers, Time-Keepers, awards, team meals, etc… Please reach out to the organizers if this is the case, and they will do their best to accommodate you.
- CAN I “PLAY UP” A DIVISION?
- That depends; a single player is allowed to “play up” a division, but the Captain must notify the Board in their registration that they have an underage player in the “Is there anything we should know?” section at the end of the registration form.
- In regards to an entire team playing up a division, they must first register in their own division. But make note that they are interested in moving up. Once registration is closed, if there is enough room for that team to move up, while also leaving enough teams in the lower division to still have a competitive tournament, it will be permitted. A member of the board will reach out to notify the Captain after deliberation.
- CAN I “PLAY DOWN” A DIVISION?
- If you are over age and were approved by OMHA/ALLIANCE to play as an over-ager on your regular season hockey team, it will be permitted in the HGT
