Rules and Regulations

  • Rosters can include a minimum of 6 skaters, Maximum of 9 skaters, and 1 Goalie for all youth divisions.
  • Adult division ( 19+ ) may include minimum of 6 skaters to a maximum of 12 skaters and 1 Goalie.
  • Each team will be permitted 2 Alternate Players. Any “A.P.” registered, must be of age of the Division that they are entered in.
  • Any Alternate Player registered, may only be registered to ONE TEAM. They are not permitted to be registered as any other A.P. or regular team mate on any other team in the HGT.
  • For division 19+, bench staff is optional. All other divisions bench staff is mandatory and must be 18 years of age or older.
  • All bench staff must sign a waiver to be on the bench.
  • All A.P.’s must sign waiver.
  • All waivers must be signed and submitted no later than 2 weeks prior to tournament. No waivers will be accepted at the tournament.
  • If you have not submitted a waiver. You do not play.
  • All games will be full-ice run clock, with 20 minute games.
  • This is a strict non-contact tournament. Anybody checking or excessive roughing will result in removal of the player.
  • Any player that has been ejected from the game that returns to the bench or ice, will result in disqualification of that team.
  • For any penalty or infraction, no time will be served. Any infractions will result in one penalty shot for the opposing team at the conclusion of the game.
  • For each infraction after 5 penalties, the opposing team will then receive 2 penalty shots per infraction.
  • Any major penalties will result in removal of the tournament without refund.
  • Face-offs will only be at the start of each game. After a goal is scored, or the Goalie freezes the puck, or an off-side, or if the puck leaves the playing surface, the Referee will blow the whistle and the formerly attacking team must immediately vacate the zone until the opposing team takes possession of the puck and crosses the blue line. No stoppage in play.
  • No icing will be called.
  • Round robin games will remain in a tie.
  • 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie, 0 for a loss.
  • Any tie in the standing at the end of the round robin will be decided by:
    • GOAL AVERAGE
    • FEWEST PENALTY SHOTS
  • Semi-final and final game tie’s will be broken by a shootout. Teams will take alternating shots until the game is decided.
  • There is a three-game guarantee.
  • Each team to decide an MVP for the entire round robin.
  • Each team in semi-finals gets an MVP award.
  • If possible, bring both light and dark jerseys.
  • Pinnies will be provided if needed. In the event two teams do not have a change of jersey- the Captains will flip a coin to decide who wears the pinnies.
  • Tournament schedule is subject to change; there may be early or late start times.
  • Teams must adhere to time restraints for dressing rooms.
  • ****No food in dressing rooms****
  • Any teams vandalising or leaving their occupied spaces in unsanitary/ messy or unkept appearance will be responsible for tidying up.
  • There is to be no alcohol consumed by Coaches or players on the bench.
  • Any alcohol witnessed being taken or consumed on the bench will result in the team being removed from the tournament and their entry fee will be forfeited.
  • All games are subject to inspection during game play to ensure rules are being followed.
